The Ultimate Road

The Gospel, The Roman Road, The Invitation, What's Next?

The bible talks about sin. The word sin is an old archery term that means to miss the mark. So to understand that God has expectations for us and we don’t fulfill those we have missed the mark, we have sinned against God.

God is too perfect to be in the presence of sin.. With sin in our lives we are separated from God. The bible calls this separation "death." However, God Created us to be with him, he wants to have a relationship with us. In the old testament God gave us the option to offer sacrifices, the death of a perfect animal, to make up for our sin. We couldn’t do that right either so God had another sacrifice for us. God created a child in the womb of a virgin. That child grew as 100% man and 100% God. We call that child Jesus Christ. Though He was tempted by evil, He lived a perfect life as an example for us. He also performed many miracles to prove He was God. For several reasons the leaders of the time decided to have Him beat just short of what would have killed most men. Well, that wasn’t enough so they decided to hang him up to suffocate to death. With the miracles He had performed He could have stopped the whole process with just a few words. He chose to die for both you and me.

That seems like a good place to end, but there is another miracle in this. After Jesus was confirmed dead he was placed in a tomb and it was sealed. Three days later the tomb was opened to finish the burial process. There was just just one problem, the body was gone. Over the next 40 days Jesus was seen by many, alive and well, before He rose to heaven.

Before reading the following verses please ask God to help you understand His words.

Romans 3:10-12
It is written, “No one is right with God, no one at all. No one understands. No one trusts in God. All of them have turned away. They have all become worthless. No one does anything good, no one at all.”

Romans 3:23
Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God’s glory.

Romans 14:12
So we will all have to explain to God the things we have done.
Romans 6:23
When you sin, the pay you get is death. But God gives you the gift of eternal life. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.

Romans 5:8
But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 4:23-25
The words “God accepted Abraham’s faith” were written not only for Abraham. They were written also for us. We believe in the God who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. So God will accept our faith and make us right with himself. Jesus was handed over to die for our sins. He was raised to life in order to make us right with God.

Romans 5:10
Once we were God’s enemies. But we have been brought back to him because his Son has died for us. Now that God has brought us back, we are even more secure. We know that we will be saved because Christ lives.

Romans 10:9-10
Say with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord.” Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Then you will be saved. With your heart you believe and are made right with God. With your mouth you say what you believe. And so you are saved.

Romans 10:13
Scripture says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
